Within the Daniel Boone National Forest located in eastern Kentucky, the Red River Gorge Geological Area is an area of unique geological formations. There are an estimated 150 natural arches here, along with ridges, valleys, cliffsides, rock shelters, bridges, and waterfalls.
Chemical changes also led to a unique collection of holes, tubes, and plates that provide interesting and challenging handholds for climbers and have elevated the Corbin Sandstone to a worldwide climber destination. Geology of Red River GorgeBridges and Cliffs
