Trans-Canada Highway – Western Ontario

I have been traveling hundreds of miles over softly rolling hills and prairie with trees becoming somewhat more common as I moved east from the Alberta mountains through Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Near the border of Manitoba and Ontario this was abruptly replaced by the Canadian Shield. Now rock, trees and lakes replaced the prairie and lakes with rocky edges began to border the highway like beads on a necklace. I particularly enjoyed the little islands with trees growing out of what seemed to be solid rock.
I also heard the cry of the loon and managed to get a picture of a couple.
