Watkins Glen State Park
The Finger Lakes were gouged out by glaciers during the last ice age more than 12,000 years ago. As the glaciers retreated, streams coming from the sides were left in hanging valleys. Water, mud, rock and sand carved out gorges that wind through the rock until they fall into the lakes.
Watkins Glen State Park is a good example of this.
