Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park
Monument Valley is officially a large area that includes much of the area surrounding Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, a Navajo Nation equivalent to a national park. Monument Valley is one of the truly iconic places of the United States. The setting for hundreds of Western movies, its unique sandstone formations are instantly recognizable the world over.

The Valley is home to Navajo families that have lived there for generations. Climbing is not allowed on the buttes and mesas in Monument Valley as it considered sacred ground.
