Great smoky Mountains National Park: North and West
There are a lot of rushing brooks and waterfalls in the park. Roads and trails run along them for miles.
You can walk behind Grotto Falls. I saw the Boogie Woogie Aphids on the Grotto Falls trail. Check out the video.
Cades Cove Loop is noted for old buildings. It is also good for wildlife sightings, feral pigs can sometimes be seen in herds. It is a one way loop that is slow and only open to walkers and bicyclers on Wednesday’s.
I only saw 4 bears (mother and 3 cubs at Cades Cove) but was told of bears being on the same trail at the time I was hiking at Grotto Falls and Laurel Falls. Baskin Creek Falls was closed because of bear activity. I also saw deer on the Cades Cove loop. At first, I thought the coyote was a fox because of its size but decided it was a young coyote.
