Aztec Ruins

Aztec Ruins National Monument

Indian Reservations and ancient ruins are quite common in the South West. The early settlers did not believe that the local Native Americans could have created the ruins that they found so they credited them to the Aztecs – thus the name Aztec Ruins. The ruins are actually a reminder of the Chaco culture. Since this site was representative of Chaco culture and I was warned that the road into Chaco Canyon was hard on vehicles I did not visit there. I would have visited many more sites but time was limited.
