Hoff's Aliner Travels
A Travel Blog for US and Canadian Parks with Geological Notes

I think this is my most unusual picture this trip. This tree stands on a rock pillar no longer connected to the cliff except for a long tree root. The boat captain said the rock connecting the pillar with the tree to the mainland fell away decades ago. There would not be enough water or nutrients to sustain the tree on the rock pillar alone.
